It was a day to remember for lucky Geraldton boy Brayden King, winner of the Geraldton Guardian’s Kick in the Street promotion.
Eight-year-old Brayden welcomed West Coast premiership players Daniel Chick and Beau Waters to his street in Wandina yesterday afternoon, giving them a run for their money with his top footy skills.
The junior Eagles fan also received a signed guernsey from Chick, one of his favourite players, and Mum Kim said he couldn’t be happier.
“He has been so excited. This is just fantastic for him,” she said.
It seemed the whole neighbourhood was there to join in the fun, the winding street a sea of blue and gold.
“I think some flyers must have been posted because half of Geraldton is here,” Waters said.
“I love having a kick with the kids. Everyone I have met so far has been so appreciative of us coming to town. It’s been great.”
Players and officials visited several local schools, hospitals and aged care facilities today, as well as making appearances at sponsor functions.
West Coast wind up their time in Geraldton with a final training session at Wonthella Oval at 5pm, before a community barbecue and signing session.
