Proudly supported by BHP Billiton Iron Ore, the Kicking Goals program’s most recent trip to the Pilbara towns of Newman and Port Hedland was in July, 2006. In addition to some rewarding sessions in the high schools in both towns, Kicking Goals presented coaching clinics to nearly 400 primary school students.
But, of course, Kicking Goals is not just about football. This visit also included important health messages from Diabetes Australia and linked in with community projects in both towns. Key indicators have begun to show that the messages conveyed in these visits are helping to develop positive attitudes within the schools.
Co-ordinator Kim Hannah was joined by David Hynes, Brad Smith, Matt Spangher and Jaymie Graham who imparted their enthusiasm for the program to all who had contact with them.
