Loping left-footer Dom Sheed has long been a quality midfielder and reserved one of the best performances of his career against the Suns.
In the absence of skipper Luke Shuey and Elliot Yeo it was important for others to step up and take responsibility and Sheed certainly delivered. He accumulated 34 possessions and was a constant influence from start to finish.
His 23 kicks and 11 handballs were complemented by 12 marks as he patrolled the midfield with devastating effect. He used those possessions to gain 644 metres of territory for his team and in partnership with Tim Kelly, Jack Redden and Liam Duggan ensured a steady flow of opportunity.
While Sheed gained enormous ground through his touches he was edged out – albeit narrowly – by veteran defender Shannon Hurn who gained 645 metres from his 31 touches.
