The West Coast Eagles have bolstered their Recruiting and List Management department, with experienced recruiter Adam Shepard and data analytics specialist Damon Poole joining the Club.

Shepard crosses to West Coast from Collingwood, where he has been National Talent ID Manager, to take on a newly-created role as Draft Strategy and Player Movement Manager.

After 15 years in talent identification and recruiting, Shepard will have a strategic focus on list improvement opportunities across the various draft and player movement mechanisms.

Poole was previously employed at the AFL’s official statistician, Champion Data, before spending the past four years at Carlton in recruiting and data analysis.

He joins West Coast as a Data Recruiting Analyst supporting the Club’s experienced data performance team.

“We are thrilled to welcome Adam and Damon to the Club in these important roles to help us evolve and progress our recruiting and list management team,” List Manager Matt Clarke said.

“Adam has been in the game for a long time, is a great relationships person and really knowledgeable about the talent and recruiting landscape.

“He will be working across recruiting and list management for us. There are numerous mechanisms to improve your list now and it is an increasingly complex space, so we were keen to bolster that area.

“Damon has a strong analytics background, a degree in mathematics and is also experienced in talent-spotting.

“He will support our experienced analytics performance staff Luke Hyde and Tyler King in player analysis plus talent and recruit identification.”

Shepard, who will commence with the Club in coming weeks, and Poole will be based in Melbourne.
