Elite midfielder Tim Kelly and exciting youngster Coen Livingstone have been named in the 2025 Indigenous All Stars squad to take on Fremantle on Saturday, February 15 at Optus Stadium.
Kelly is entering his sixth season in the blue and gold, the 2023 John Worsfold medallist boasting an array of accolades over his career so far, including an All-Australian cap and a Glendinning-Allan Medal.
“It means a lot, it’s a great initiative from the AFL and I’m really looking forward to representing my culture and my people,” Kelly said on his Indigenous All Star selection.
“I’m excited to play with everyone, like Shai Bolton and ‘Kozzie’ (Kysaiah) Pickett, there’s so much Indigenous talent through the AFL so it’s going to be cool playing alongside them all.
“Growing up, I loved watching guys like Andrew McLeod, Cyril Rioli, Adam Goodes, ‘Buddy’ (Lance) Franklin, David Wirrpunda, I could go on and on, I grew up idolising those guys and it made me want to do the same as them.
“Knowing that there’s young Indigenous boys and girls out there who will be watching us come together and looking up to us in some way is really special.”
In a unique start to his career, young ruck Livingstone will represent the Indigenous All Stars before making his AFL debut for the Eagles.
The 19-year-old showed promising signs in his first season on West Coast’s list, impressing with his aggression and commitment to the contest, standing tall in all 18 WAFL games.
“It’s a huge honour and I’m super proud to be a part of such a talented side and can’t wait to play alongside some of the best players in the comp,” Livingstone said.
“I obviously haven’t played a game of AFL yet so it’s going to be great to just see how they all go about it, and I’m really excited to play with my teammates in Liam (Ryan) and Tim (Kelly).
“I loved watching Paddy Ryder play when I was growing up, we play the same position, he was a freak and moved so well for a big man.
“I think it’s really important for young Indigenous footy players to experience these games, and hopefully it gives them the confidence and dream to play in them one day.”
Kelly and Livingstone join Eagles teammate Liam Ryan, and First Nations Player Development Manager Chance Bateman (assistant coach) in the All Stars team, both previously announced.
The All Stars will assemble ahead of the 2025 season and play together for the first time since 2015, with the players taking part in a three-day Indigenous camp around the match.
This exciting occasion is a celebration of the rich Indigenous culture within the sport, and the outstanding contributions Indigenous players have made and continue to make across the League.
It also serves as inspiration for young Indigenous players, with the hope of encouraging higher interest and participation rates from Indigenous communities.
