After a breakout 2019 things got a bit tougher for Petruccelle, with a serious hamstring injury a significant factor in him managing just six games for the season. Coming off a 21-goal, 20-game effort last year, the speedy half-forward played the opening three rounds before finding himself out of the line-up as West Coast struggled to click into gear following the season restart. He tore a hamstring in a scrimmage match against Brisbane shortly after, and didn’t make it back into the side until the eve of finals. When fully fit, the 21-year-old Victorian is capable of breaking the lines like few others and creating headaches for opposition defences. Petruccelle will be hoping for a strong summer to set himself up to attack next season after signing a two-year contract extension tying him to the club until the end of 2023.

Standout performance: Chipping in for a big win

Following a 12-game stint out of the side as he worked his way back from injury, the speed forward had an impact in the injury-hit Eagles’ best win of the season against St Kilda in round 17. From his season-best 11 disposals the Eagles gained 277m on another slippery Brisbane night when gaining, and holding onto, territory was crucial.
