Liam Duggan and Oscar Allen will lead the West Coast Eagles into a new era in 2025 after being confirmed to continue as co-captains.

Elevated to sharing leadership duties last year, Duggan and Allen were again endorsed in a poll of the playing group, coaches and senior Football Department staff, with the decision ratified by the Board.

“It was clear after running a thorough process in line with our club values that Liam and Oscar were the standout leaders for our playing group in 2025,” Head of Football John Worsfold said today.

“They formed an excellent working relationship during their first year as co-captains and their leadership styles complemented each other.

“We’re looking forward to them continuing to lead the club into an exciting new era under senior coach Andrew McQualter.”

Duggan, the tough and reliable utility, and star forward Allen became just the second duo to share duties as skipper last year, following in the footsteps of Dean Kemp and Ben Cousins in 2001.

They will be supported in their roles this season by veteran defender Jeremy McGovern, who returns to the vice-captaincy.

“We are really pleased Jeremy will resume a formal leadership position after he stepped back from the vice-captaincy last year to focus on returning to his best football,” Worsfold said.

“The results spoke for themselves after being named Club Champion, and he will step back in to support Liam and Oscar.”

There will also be three first-time members of West Coast’s six-man leadership group.

All-Australian forward Jake Waterman’s standing among the squad has been recognised, alongside experienced recruits Liam Baker and Jack Graham.

“It’s a terrific sign of Jake’s growth for him to join the leadership group and he has shown admirable resilience to reach this point in his career,” Worsfold said.

“Liam and Jack arrived at the club with strong leadership credentials, and they have already made an impact driving high standards amongst the playing group.”
