In positive news, West Coast Eagles pair Jake Waterman and Jack Hutchinson are both expected to be available for selection in round five against Carlton.
Waterman has been rehabilitating a back-related calf injury and Hutchinson sustained a hamstring strain in round one.
“Jack Hutchinson had a great session on Saturday where he ticked all boxes required,” High Performance Manager Mat Inness told westcoasteagles.com.au.
“Assuming he gets through training this week, he will be available for selection.
“Like ‘Hutch’, Jake Waterman had a great session over the weekend, ticking all boxes needed to return to play this week.”
Vice-captain Jeremy McGovern suffered a minor adductor injury in round three against Fremantle and is progressing well through his rehab program, while Elijah Hewett is working through a calf strain.
“Gov’ is starting change of direction and is expected to join in with some drills with the WAFL group back in Perth while the AFL group are away,” Inness said.
“We are expecting him to be back playing in the next week or two.
“Elijah suffered a low-grade calf strain last Thursday at main training.
“It was extremely low-grade, however due to the injury happening on the Thursday, playing this week is just too soon, so he will miss this week.”
Elliot Yeo’s recovery from a knee and ankle injury has been slower than initially expected.
“Elliot has not been able to progress into higher intensity drills in the last week due to some lingering symptoms in his ankle, so he’s been in a holding pattern with his rehab,” Inness said.
“As such, he is still at least four-to-five weeks away from returning to play.”
Campbell Chesser is moving forward with his program following ankle surgery in February.
“In good news, Campbell is back running this week,” Inness said.
“We will continue to progress his rehab over the next few weeks.”
