The West Coast Eagles braved the wet conditions and took over the Perth CBD today as players and staff were teamed up and let loose amongst the Murray and Hay Street malls to raise money for the Cancer Council WA in the Dig Deep Street Appeal.
As part of the lead-up to the Eagles Dig Deep Day clash against Adelaide at Subiaco Oval this Saturday, almost the entire list of Eagles players gave up their time to be involved in the club’s Street Appeal.
While Nic Naitanui’s trademark dreadlocks were able to draw a crowd, fellow ruckman Dean Cox and his team of Lewis Broome and Andrew Strijk were the biggest fundraisers on the day, recording a massive $594.85 within the hour and helping to take the Street Appeal total to $4206.35.
Cancer Council WA player ambassador Beau Waters has thanked everyone for being involved and the generosity of those that donated or purchased a Dig Deep wristband.
“It was great to see so much support for the Dig Deep cause today, and hopefully by being out here amongst the community it has helped raise a little bit more awareness of the work that Cancer Council WA does,” Waters said.
With the Dig Deep campaign being West Coast’s biggest fundraising initiative for Cancer Council WA, the Dig Deep Street Appeal is an integral part of the club’s commitment to raising $100,000 for important cancer research projects as well as support for people with cancer and their families.
Since 2005, the West Coast Eagles have helped raise over $500,000 for Cancer Council WA and would like to thank our 2010 Dig Deep official campaign partner Caltex for their continued support of the campaign.
All proceeds from the sale of the 2010 Dig Deep wristbands will go directly to Cancer Council WA.
