West Coast champion Josh Kennedy has been revealed as the 2024 premiership cup ambassador.
The premiership full-forward will deliver the holy grail to the MCG on Grand Final day, six years after tasting the ultimate success in the Eagles’ epic win over Collingwood.
The 2024 Toyota AFL Premiership Cup tour will begin tomorrow in Western Australia and will see the cup visit four states and territories in the lead-up to the 2024 Toyota AFL Grand Final, travelling to a host of local communities and iconic destinations in Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Queensland and New South Wales.
Kennedy retired at the end of 2022 as West Coast’s all-time leading goalkicker, a dual Coleman medallist and three-time All-Australian.
He played in two Grand Finals for the Eagles, booting an equal game-high three goals in 2018 to help inspire the comeback victory.
“Winning the 2018 AFL Premiership was one of the highlights of my career, so to be able to give fans the opportunity to see the cup up close and personal through the Toyota AFL Premiership Cup Tour is something very special,” Kennedy said.
Kennedy will be joined on Grand Final day by Norm Smith Medal presenter Steve Johnson, Jock McHale Medal presenter David Parkin and Ron Barassi Medal presenter Fred Wooler.
The Barassi Medal was struck for the first time in honour of the late Legend of the game and will be presented to the premiership captain each season.
