West Coast Eagles co-captains Oscar Allen and Liam Duggan have shaken off illness and injury concerns and will line up for the season-opener against Port Adelaide on Sunday.

Allen had a gastro issue on Tuesday and was sent home from the club’s season launch as a precaution, and Duggan cast aside any concerns raised when he missed Monday’s light session with an ankle injury.

They will run out alongside each other and will have key roles to play as the Eagles prepare to take on one of the teams widely touted as a premiership contender.

Allen will take up station deep in attack and Duggan will likely oscillate with highly-regarded teenager Harley Reid, who will make his debut.

Reid has been named in the midfield alongside Club Champions Elliot Yeo, who won the award in 2017 and 2018, and Tim Kelly, who won the mantle last year.

Also named for his first match in blue and gold is former Hawthorn small forward Tyler Brockman. He made his way to the club through the trade period last October and has impressed since arrival with his clean hands and neat skills.

Another possible debutant is Next Generation Academy product Tyrell Dewar, who has made strong progress in the pre-season and was named on an extended interchange bench.

Midfielders Reuben Ginbey, Campbell Chesser and Luke Edwards, tall utility player Callum Jamieson, forward Ryan Maric and rebounding defender Jamaine Jones were all named on the bench.

The club will narrow that list down before heading to Adelaide for a much-anticipated challenge.
