West Coast star Elliot Yeo and speedy forward Jack Petruccelle have not given up hope of playing again this season, with both Eagles pushing to be available for the final round trip to face Geelong.

The Eagles’ full attention is focused on Saturday night’s RAC Derby at Optus Stadium, but Yeo (calf) and Petruccelle (hamstring) won’t be available for the ‘away’ game against Fremantle.

“Elliot and Jack are making gradual progressions with their respective injuries and joined in some light training and progressed their running this morning,” Head of Health Mark Finucane told westcoasteagles.com.au.

“We’ll see them progress over the week and looking to do a bigger session at the weekend to be a test for next week.”

Unfortunately, rugged onballer Connor West (wrist) and developing ruckman Callum Jamieson (groin) won’t be seen on the football field again this season.

West was injured during the clash with Gold Coast in round 20, while Jamieson has developed soreness that has kept him on the sidelines in recent weeks.

“Unfortunately, in the Gold Coast game Connor fell onto an outstretched hand and fractured a bone in his wrist that he’s had surgically stabilised, and so that will be the rest of his season resting that up and letting that heal,” Finucane said.

“Callum has been suffering with some groin soreness at a low level for the last couple of weeks.

“We’re just taking a no-risk approach with a young key position ruckman and just letting that settle down so he goes into hopefully have an unaffected off-season and build into pre-season.”
