The WAFL Eagles found a better wet weather football exponent when they were overwhelmed by East Perth at Mineral Resources Park today.

The Eagles had their moments in a tight, tough contest that was played almost entirely in drizzling rain but East Perth created more opportunities and enjoyed a strong outcome on the scoreboard - winning 7.8 (50) to 4.3 (27)

For the Eagles, young ruckman Callum Jamieson led the way with a competitive performance.

While conceding the hit-out count conclusively to former Fremantle-listed big man Scott Jones, Jamieson was solid around the ground with a 21-possesion effort.

Midfielder Xavier O’Neill worked hard at ground level, where the ball spent most of its time, while Patrick Naish racked up 32 possessions and Alex Witherden was efficient in defence.

The experience of Royals stars Hamish Brayshaw, Angus Schumacher and Jackson Ramsay proved decisive as they led the charge for most of the day.
