Four of the most accomplished players in the history of the club are among 12 changes for the West Coast Eagles ahead of tomorrow’s RAC Derby against Fremantle.
Dual Coleman medallist Josh Kennedy, two-time Club Champion Nic Naitanui, 2015 John Worsfold medallist Andrew Gaff and 2018 player of the finals Jack Redden have all been cleared to play against the Dockers.
Gaff has overcome a foot injury that sidelined him last week, while the other three stars have emerged from isolation under the AFL health and safety protocols.
Also making their way back are experienced defenders Jackson Nelson and Josh Rotham, small forwards Zac Langdon and Jamaine Jones, midfielder Connor West, key back Harry Edwards, first year player Brady Hough and tall forward Hugh Dixon.
Nelson was a late out against the Roos, injuring a knee in the warm-up, while West has recovered from a hamstring strain.
All of the others missed last week under health and safety protocols.
Unfortunately, such is the selection turnstile of the first three rounds in 2022, the Eagles also lose captain Luke Shuey, Willie Rioli, Liam Duggan, Bailey Williams and rookie Jack Williams under H&S protocols.
In another blow star midfielder Tim Kelly will also miss with a hamstring strain while Xavier O’Neill is an emergency.
Five club debutants against North Melbourne last week – Callum Jamieson, Angus Dewar, Declan Mountford, Aaron Black and Stefan Giro have all been omitted.
So has former Eagle Brayden Ainsworth, who has committed to play with Perth this season.
