The skipper has earned her third ‘best Eagle afield’ performance for the season after leading by example in Sunday’s heartbreaking loss to Brisbane.

With a fractured finger, Swanson managed 22 disposals, 10 contested possessions and six marks and was West Coast’s best midfielder in the 74-point defeat.

Swanson recorded a further six clearances and four rebound 50s and had an impact on the contest, with her determination and resilience evident on an otherwise disappointing day.

The captain was backed up by youngsters Mikayla Bowen (19 disposals, six tackles) and Isabella Lewis (17, three) in the centre, but carried a brunt of the load on her own back in a match where many players’ efforts were nullified due to the class of Brisbane’s attack.
