Tall forward Ella Roberts was one of the most anticipated youngsters to come out of the 2022 draft. As expected, Roberts burst onto the scene in season seven of AFLW playing all 10 games of the season, receiving her first AFLW Rising Star nomination in round six, also claiming a Mark of the Year nomination for a round nine speccy against the Bulldogs. Last season, Roberts stepped her game up another level, and was named the round one Rising Star nominee after her outstanding performance in the AFLW RAC Derby, finishing with a game-high 24 touches, four marks and four tackles, and was awarded the RAC Derby medal for best on ground. The 19-year-old finished runner up Club Champion for her standout 2023 season, impressing with her reliable and consistent high-flying marks, ferocious tackles and her thumping kick. To cap off her year, Roberts was named in the AFLPA 22Under22 team, the first Eagle to make the final team, and was the most selected forward across the competition.
