West Coast Eagles stars Charlie Thomas and Ella Roberts have had their outstanding seasons recognised by being named in the 2024 AFLW All-Australian squad.
The young pair have been selected in the squad of 42 players, with the final 21 being announced at the W Awards on November 25.
Reigning Club Champion Thomas picked up where she left off last season, nullifying some of the most dangerous key forwards in the competition.
Thomas finished first in the League for rebound 50s, highlighting her incredible work rate and talent for moving the ball forward for her teammates’ advantage.
In her first season as co-vice-captain alongside Bella Lewis, Thomas’ leadership continued to develop, offering guidance and mentorship for fellow young defenders coming through the ranks.
Thomas has been recognised in her second consecutive All-Australian squad, after becoming the first AFLW Eagle to be named in the final All-Australian team last season.
Teen sensation Roberts’ accolades continue to mount, receiving her first All-Australian nod after another incredible season in the blue and gold.
Having already established herself as one of the brightest young players in the competition since her debut in 2022, Roberts continues to elevate her game to new heights year after year.
Roberts managed a career-high 11 marks in week six against Port Adelaide, before breaking the Eagles’ AFLW club disposal record in week nine with 33 touches.
Head of Women’s Football Michelle Cowan said Thomas and Roberts are highly deserving of All-Australian recognition after such impactful contributions this season.
“Charlie and Ella had very consistent seasons and this is a great recognition of their efforts,” Cowan said.
“They were both incredibly impactful throughout the year and both continue to lead the way for the entire team, both on the field and off the field.
“It’s great to see Charlie back up her All-Australian selection last season, and great recognition for Ella after her best season that she’s had in the competition.”
