A new generation of West Coast Eagles will begin their AFL journeys on Sunday as the club unveils three first-gamers together for the first time in more than two years.

Not since round one, 2023 – when Campbell Chesser, Reuben Ginbey and Noah Long received their wings together – have the Eagles handed AFL debuts to three players in the same match.

Oakleigh Chargers product Tom Gross (pick No.46) and Claremont running machine Hamish Davis (No.65) have broken through after impressive starts to their tenure as members of the 2024 draft crop.

The pair of 18-year-olds are joined in the team by Sandy Brock, who has grabbed his opportunity with both hands to replace champion defender Jeremy McGovern (adductor) in the line-up to face Greater Western Sydney.

Brock, the nephew of legendary V8 driver Peter, only officially signed with the Eagles six weeks ago as a supplemental selection period recruit.

He has been named at full-back for his AFL debut at age 22, having spent three years on Gold Coast’s rookie list without breaking through for a senior match.

Brock will become the 297th player to represent the Eagles in the AFL, with Davis the 298th and Gross No.299.

Effervescent wingman Harvey Johnston, tough mid Clay Hall and speedy small forward Loch Rawlinson are also in the mix to play against the Giants at Engie Stadium.

Emerging onballer Elijah Hewett (calf) and star forward Liam Ryan (illness) have both gone out of the team alongside McGovern.

West Coast will travel to Sydney on Friday and finalise their 23-player team at 2pm AWST.
