WAFL and State-level coaches Lauren Stammers, Pia Faletti, Jenna Allomes, Amanda Robertson and Kerry O’Sullivan are assisting with the AFLW High Performance Academy as part of a Coach Mentoring Program at Mineral Resources Park.
Run over three sessions, the female coaches have been provided with an opportunity to immerse themselves within West Coast’s AFLW High Performance Academy Program, through the teachings of inaugural Eagle Steve Malxos.
Malaxos mentors the coaches on field as they run through proceedings from team meetings to drills, and also assists with any questions they may have surrounding coaching at the top level.
The program is also mentored by experienced coach over 20 years Michelle Cowan, alongside female football pioneer and AFLW Player Wellbeing Manager Jan Cooper, and AFLW/WAFL coach Daniel Pratt.
This is West Coast’s inaugural Female Coach Mentoring Program which will continue to expand and grow over coming seasons.
Cowan is pleased with the results from the Mentoring Program thus far.
“It’s important that we as a football club and industry provide opportunity to female coaches,” she said.
“This program will enable more women to further their coaching, offer one on one mentoring in a professional environment and support their pathway as sports leaders.”
"Thanks to BHP for their ongoing support we are able to facilitate this fantastic program”
