Demi Liddle could be back on field as early as this weekend as the West Coast Eagles attempt to open their account after two fighting losses.
Liddle is currently working through lower back soreness, which saw her unable to compete against Fremantle in the RAC Derby last Sunday.
“I have a little bit of what I like to call an 'old man injury'.” Liddle said.
“(I’m) working through that at the moment, there is potential that I could be in the side at the end of the week, if I pass an assessment at the end of the week, which I’m really hoping to get through.”
Liddle was sidelined with the injury on her debut against the Adelaide Crows in round one.
A debut she thought was years away, after moving from state basketball only three years prior.
“Obviously from being down south, played basketball for Country Champs.” Liddle said.
“Then made the move when the South West Football League first brought out their women’s side in Busselton.
“I absolutely fell in love with the sport, so just put all my work into it, and was really lucky to be given the opportunity I have been.
“There is a lot that crosses over game-sense wise if you can use it in that way."
Liddle was selected in the 2020 draft - a surprise she didn't see coming after celebrating a premiership win with her Peel Thunder teammates only two months before.
“Coming to an AFL list was something that I’ve always dreamed of, but was not expecting it as quickly as it came," she said.
“After the draft, I was ready to put in for another year of work, and hope for it in the 2021 draft, but got that lucky spot that came up for me.
“I was like 'oh wow, this is incredible'.”
