Some new faces and established stars were conspicuous participants as West Coast hit the training track on Monday morning.

For Eagle-eyed track watchers, the sight of ex-Brisbane half-back Cedric Cox and Subiaco forward Nic Martin wouldn’t have gone unnoticed.

The duo stepped out for their first skills session with the club after being invited to train under Pre-season Supplementary Selection Period rules.

Swan Districts backman Will Collins will also join the group soon, once he clears medical and COVID-19 protocol hurdles.

Cox and Martin quickly picked up the pace of a determined squad who, after being forced to train solo or with a housemate last week, are keen to make up for any lost time a month out from the AAMI Community Series clash with Port Adelaide.

It was an encouraging sign to see dynamic captain Luke Shuey ramping up his workload after a gradual build from a sore calf, while Andrew Gaff was also back in amongst the thick of training again following a light week recently.

They took part in some tackle work and full-ground ball movement, which was followed by condensed field scrimmage work, focusing on sharp decisions and precise skills in traffic.

Then the group progressed into match simulation across the entire field, with sprightly small forward Jamaine Jones continuing to impress, alongside housemate Tim Kelly ahead of his second campaign in blue and gold.

Veteran spearhead Josh Kennedy (calf) and budding forward Jake Waterman (back) were on light duties walking laps but neither is expected to be kept out of the main group for long, while midfield bull Elliot Yeo (groin) continued getting miles into his legs running laps on the MCG-sized oval at MRP.
