West Coast will travel to face Richmond at the Tigers’ home ground in round three of the NAB AFLW competition.

Following a bruising RAC Derby against Fremantle, the Eagles will fly east for the first time this season for Sunday’s 5.10pm (2.10pm AWST) bouncedown at the Swinburne Centre (Punt Road).

“We took a lot of positives from a fighting effort in the RAC Derby and are excited to get away together as a squad to take on Richmond in round three,” said Richard O’Connell, the head of West Coast’s AFLW program and General Manager – Community and Game Development.

“Our players and coaches are focusing solely on preparing for the Tigers, while our club is working closely with the AFL around future fixtures, with the welfare of our players and staff front of mind.

“The club will release more information when it comes to hand.”

The clash at Punt Road will be the first time West Coast has met Richmond after both sides joined the growing competition last year. The teams played a practice game at the venue last year.

Crowds will be in attendance at the game unless otherwise advised. Tickets for the general public will go on sale at 11am local time on Friday, February 12.

AFL Head of Women’s Football Nicole Livingstone said the league would continue to take the advice of governments and health officials as it worked through fixtures for upcoming rounds.

“These continue to be unprecedented times and the fixture this year will continue to respond to and reflect the situation across country,” Ms Livingstone said.

“We will continue to remain as adaptable as we listen to and work closely with each stakeholder to ensure the best possible outcome for everyone in the game.

“While COVID-19 continues to impact the community, the health and welfare of our players and the community remains the priority and we remain committed to delivering a full season in a safe manner anchored in the advice of respective governments, public health officials and medical experts.

“On behalf of the AFL, I want to thank all clubs, players and the AFLPA, umpires, venues, governments and our broadcast and commercial partners for their understanding and continued support of the NAB AFL Women’s competition.

“I also want to acknowledge the on-going support from the AFLW football community this season through memberships, attendances and broadcasts.”

All 2021 NAB AFL Women’s Competition matches will be broadcast live on the Seven Network, FOX FOOTY, Kayo, and via the AFL Live Official App, thanks to Telstra. Matches will also be streamed live via womens.afl and the AFLW Live Official App.
