Season 2020 was undoubtedly a breakout for Liam Duggan, who placed fifth in this year’s John Worsfold Medal count. The 23-year-old was typically proficient in his defensive play, but also showed that he has what it takes to mix it with the competition’s best midfielders. With troops going down left, right and centre, Duggan was thrust into the engine room on several occasions and thrived in the clinches. He achieved career-best numbers for average disposals (12.4), marks (5.8) and disposals efficiency (76.9) this year.
Standout performance:
Duggan did everything in his power to get West Coast over the line in a tight contest against the Western Bulldogs in round 16. Senior coach Adam Simpson threw Duggan into the middle after premiership onballer Mark Hutchings went down with a hamstring injury just before half-time and the Western Jets product hardly looked out of place in the engine room. He collected 18 disposals, five contested possessions, reeled in six marks and effected three score involvements to be among the most influential Eagles afield.
