The remarkable support for the West Coast Eagles has soared to new heights, with the club lodging the highest membership of any club in the AFL for the 2020 season.

Last week the club announced that it had reached the 100,000 membership figure for the first time in its history and when the AFL released final numbers for all clubs today, West Coast was at the top of the table.

The Eagles hit 100,776 to leapfrog Richmond (100,420) who, for the third successive season, reached the six-figure mark.

It means the Eagles have the largest membership base of any club in the southern hemisphere and is one of a handful of organisations globally to enjoy such a level of rusted-on support.

Chief Executive Officer Trevor Nisbett reiterated the club’s overwhelming sense of pride that so many Eagles fans had jumped on board in what has been a remarkably challenging year for everyone.

“As a club it is a very humbling experience to have the highest membership base of any club in the southern hemisphere,” said Trevor Nisbett, Chief Executive Officer today.

“It is completely overwhelming and I know coach Adam Simpson and our players really appreciate having such extraordinary support behind them, particularly when the compressed nature of the competition is hitting our squad so hard.

“We will tackle the next couple of games with a level of reassurance, knowing we have such wonderful support”
