Ahhh….back into hub life in Queensland!

It was a unique experience earlier in the season and while the West Coast Eagles are back in the Sunshine State, this is vastly different.

After staying at Royal Pines Resort for Hub 1, the Eagles are this time located at picturesque Sanctuary Cove, on the canals near Hope Island. It is home to neatly manicured golf courses, which seems to be obligatory in these parts.

Today, as the players recovered from a pulsating contest against Richmond at Metricon Stadium last night, they conducted the aquatic element of the process in a unique setting – walking through beach sand into the water, that about 10 metres is transformed into a more traditional concrete pool.

It didn’t make the water any warmer, but that’s supposed to be the point!

Other than the disappointment of defeat, the players and coaching staff might have been relatively satisfied with the output; sometimes your best is not good enough and Richmond did not allow the Eagles to play at their very best.

They reviewed the performance, took away some key learnings and quite quickly turned the focus on to the next assignment – Essendon at the Gabba next Tuesday evening.

In the meantime, the Eagles squad will work through its program in Sanctuary Cove, a pretty parcel in this neck of the woods, where locals scoot about in golf carts, not only to get from tee to green, but for the morning coffee run, a few quick supplies or a bite to eat at an exclusive marina that pens some of the most impressive vessels you could imagine.
