Thousands of people and their families are affected by cancer in the community and the disease has been close to home for the West Coast Eagles throughout much of the club’s existence.

Formalising its support of the fight against cancer in early 2005, the West Coast Eagles identified The Cancer Council WA as a long-term charitable partner.

The first season of the partnership was highlighted by the Strength Within wristband campaign, with 50,000 silicone wristbands in the mutual colours of blue and gold made available for sale through ANZ, Video Ezy and Caltex outlets for $2 each.

The exercise earned $86,000 for The Cancer Council WA to support cancer research, education and patient services.

Events such as Me No Hair, Relay for Life and Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea are also passionately supported by the club, with a number of the players dying their hair blue and gold before a training session in March.
