McGovern has played both ends of the ground in his first season of senior football while Lycett has been utilised in some games as a permanent forward.
They played those roles at WAFL level with East Perth before playing in similar positions with West Coast and young key position player Fraser McInnes showed there was another string to his bow when he played in defence on Saturday.
With the Royals down on key position talent through injury and suspension, McInnes was used at centre half-back and excelled. Primarily a forward in his time on the list, McInnes showed good judgement, distributed the ball well and gathered a solid possession tally.
He had 13 touches and took eight marks in an eye-catching display.
Half-forward Ash Smith, who has been transformed from a defender, had 21 possessions and took 10 marks in a brilliant display, while Simon Tunbridge also exerted an influence with 15 possessions, five marks and six tackles. He used the ball efficiently and was one of the Royals’ best in a terrific win over Peel.
Midfielder Brant Colledge continued to build on a strong run of form with 21 touches and eight marks, while ruckman-forward Cal Sinclair had an absorbing contest with Jon Griffin.
Rookie Dylan Main continues to impress as he develops his game and had 16 possessions and five marks in another good performance.
