Whether it was the three talented Kimberley youngsters, Rowan Powell, Geoff Fong and Brent Gore, who trained with the Eagles in the morning, or the hundreds of school children who were visited by groups of players, the response was overwhelming.

The day started with an early morning training sessions designed to beat the oppressive heat, with an impressive new facility greeting the squad upon arrival.

With two full-sized ovals side-by-side at Father McMahon Sports Field, the squad was able to break into two groups: those in full training embarked on a searching skills program, while the rehab group were worked into a lather on the adjoining oval.

Broome is keen to lobby the AFL to host a NAB Cup match and this facility will certainly boost those aspirations.

From there, it was off to various schools and community groups, with a rousing reception the highlight at Cable Beach Primary School, where Andrew Embley's sister Jacinta is a teacher.

At neighbouring St Mary's College, the message from the players was all about healthy eating, with Darren Glass, Nic Naitanui, Mark Nicoski and others serving up a healthy salad sandwich to the children.

The players have now left Broome to partake in a three-day training camp at Eco Beach where they are sure to be tested physically and mentally. Stay tuned to westcoasteagles.com.au for updates throughout the week.
