West Coast senior players got their own back on coaching and communications staff, as well as one of their teammates last week as part of The Cancer Council Western Australia’s launch of Me No Hair, an initiative that encourages people to shave their heads or colour their hair to raise funds for cancer research, education and patient support services.

Matt Priddis, Beau Waters, David Wirrpanda and skipper Darren Glass eagerly took clippers to the heads of senior coach John Worsfold, midfielder Daniel Kerr and communications staffers Gary Stocks and Anna Carew-Reid to kick off the club’s fourth year of partnering the Cancer Council.

Worsfold said the club is committed to reducing the burden of cancer in the Western Australian community through the partnership.

“It is a very important part of what our club is all about,” Worsfold said.

“Both on and off the field, our club is always striving for sustained success and we’re hoping to continue that with the Cancer Council WA.”

Star midfielder Daniel Kerr was also excited to be involved.

“I’m happy to do this for the Cancer Council and also to make Juddy feel a bit better because he’s losing all his hair.”

Me No Hair has raised more than $1.4 million since it started in Western Australia in 1999. The aim for 2008 is to raise $200,000 and the West Coast Eagles was pleased to be able to contribute $8374 towards this goal after the club’s Me No Hair fundraising activities.

Me No Hair runs all year, so people can sign up any time to shave their heads or colour their hair for the cancer cause.
