Karl Vickers was king of his Esperance street today when West Coast Eagles stars Darren Glass and Mark Nicoski dropped in to visit him as part of the club’s community camp in the State’s deep south.

Karl, 10, entered and won a competition conducted in the Esperance Express, earning the opportunity to have a kick with a couple of his heroes.

And when Glass and Nicoski arrived at the Vickers’ family home word had obviously spread. About 50 family and friends gathered on the front verge, many of them Karl’s envious school mates.

Nicoski and Glass presented Karl with an autographed West Coast Eagles guernsey, a football, caps and other goodies as part of the booty for his winning entry, which was one of about 500 hopeful entries in the competition.

The West Coast Eagles arrived in Esperance on Monday and will return to Perth on Thursday, ahead of a practice match at Arena Joondalup, starting at 5pm on Friday evening.
