This week the AFL celebrates the relationship between our great game and Indigenous Australia, highlighting the significant contribution of Indigenous players to Australian football, along with the role the game has played in building bridges between cultures.

As part of the round nine initiatives, the West Coast Eagles pays tribute to our Regional Partner BHP Billiton Iron Ore and their strong focus on developing educational outcomes for Indigenous youth in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

Kicking Goals is a program jointly developed by BHP Billiton Iron Ore and the West Coast Eagles, and supported by the Swan Districts Football Club. As part of this unique initiative, injured West Coast young gun Mitch Brown recently travelled to the remote community of Jigalong, using the appeal of football to guide, teach and inspire these students and help them to realise their leadership potential.
