Utility player Sharrod Wellingham, the high profile player left out of the derby line-up, responded as Adam Simpson and his match committee would have liked, while Patrick McGinnity, Dom Sheed, Josh Hill and Jeremy McGovern were all prominent.
In addition, ruckman-forward Cal Sinclair, midfielder Brant Colledge and defender Adam Carter maintained their solid form.
But it was Wellingham who was most noticeable, his 25-possession, eight-mark performance punctuated by positive ball use and a willingness to work on components of his game required to get further opportunities with the Eagles.
While Wellingham produced his trademark class, McGinnity played the way he always does – with grit, ferocity and a penchant for the contest which helped to steel the Royals for a 10-point victory against a fast-finishing East Fremantle.
McGinnity had 26 touches and was instrumental in the victory, while Sheed (21 possessions) and Colledge (20 disposals) were also part of a quality midfield effort most noteworthy for the evenness of contribution.
Down back, McGovern, unlucky to lose his place after a solid debut against the Blues, was again commanding in the air, raking in seven marks and earning 16 possessions in a solid display on the last line.
Carter shut down dangerous East Fremantle forward Ryan Lester-Smith, while Sinclair was under notice throughout, gathering 17 possessions, eight marks and winning 23 hit-outs.
Up forward, Fraser McInnes and Hill each bagged three goals, with both men always threatening when the ball ventured into their area.
Jacob Brennan was a consistent contributor from start to finish, along with Ash Smith and Will Maginness, who had a run-with role on Rory O'Brien through the midfield.
Four of the younger members of the squad played in the reserves and all did their part. Malcolm Karpany had 20 possessions in the midfield, Dylan Main had 16 touches and laid three tackles, while Rowen Powell and Tom Barrass were again impressive in defence.
