West Coast’s biggest little fans braved the heat on Saturday to visit Perth Zoo for the Rookie Eagles End of Year Party.
Senior coach Adam Simpson was impressed by the dedication of the junior members, with over 700 turning up for an exclusive autograph session with the Eagles squad.
“It’s really good, it’s a credit to the club the way they run the events and make the players available to the fans,” Adam said.
“It’s great to see them on a day like today, especially with the cricket on!”
Captain Darren Glass was thrilled to see so many Rookie members in attendance, with the players enjoying the chance to catch up with fans before Christmas.
“It’s been a great turnout, especially considering the weather and the cricket’s on.
“It’s been great to see all our Rookie Eagles and it’s a great opportunity to touch base with them to start the year,” Darren said.
Dean Cox was on hand to entertain the crowd with a special guest, the veteran ruckman quizzing Santa on which players would make the naughty-or-nice list.
West Coast Eagles mascot Rick the Rock made sure to visit the young fans, getting up to plenty of mischief and earning himself a sore hand from giving too many high-fives.
After scoring player autographs, fans were invited to spend the rest of the day exploring the zoo and visiting their favourite animals.
