West Coast kicked off derby weekend in style with its annual Carlton Mid Derby Lunch held at Crown Perth on Friday afternoon.
Over 1000 guests joined the festivities, including players and coaches, past and present, from both camps.
Hosted by Channel 7’s Adrian Barich, the event got underway with a revealing interview between senior coach John Worsfold and inaugural captain Ross Glendinning.
With Woosha having been involved in almost every derby in history as either a player or coach, and Ross lending his name to the medal awarded to best-on-ground in the derby, it was an insightful Q&A session.
Eagle Vision co-hosts Rayne Embley and Sharrod Wellingham were then welcomed onto the stage, ready to grill Dean Cox and Mark LeCras on some personal issues.
Guests were captivated by their anecdotes and insight into the upcoming game, and relished the chance to see the boys under pressure in a couples quiz to find out how well they really knew their wives.
After a spot interview with stars from House Rules and The Mole, Sharrod and Rayne also chatted to Sam Butler and Jack Darling about their expectations for the match ahead.
An in-depth derby discussion followed between panellists Shaun McManus, Peter Bell, Justin Longmuir, Darren Glass, Scott Selwood and David Teague.
The Fremantle representatives offered some interesting commentary with OWLS Paul Peos, Michael Brennan and Dwayne Lamb also chiming in from the audience to offer their two cents.
After some comic relief from Bruno Lucia, who had the crowd in stitches, guests retired to the West Cape Howe wine lounge to wind down before Sunday’s blockbuster.
