The West Coast Eagles will swoop down on Lakeside Joondalup shopping centre this Thursday to promote two important initiatives.
Together with the West Perth Falcons, the Eagles will host a pop-up footy centre to help create awareness of both Harmony Day and Bullying, No Way! which will be held the following day on Friday, March 21.
Football fans and shoppers alike will be encouraged to test their skills with a handball target and kicking cube, as well as have the opportunity to meet the club mascots and take part in activities and competitions.
Participants will also learn more about Harmony Day and Bullying, No Way! with dedicated promotions offering prizes and giveaways.
Harmony Day aims to promote cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home, from the traditional owners of this land, to those who have come from many countries around the world.
Bullying, No Way! is part of a larger National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence, giving schools the chance to strengthen their existing everyday messages that bullying and violence at school are not acceptable.
This event will be the first of many to showcase a partnership being cultivated by West Coast and West Perth, which aims to promote social cohesion in a multi-cultural community, drive growth in football participation and attract new fans to the game by educating migrants about Australian football.
The presence of West Coast and West Perth at this event is timely with the 2014 AFL and WAFL seasons kicking off this weekend. Round one will see the Falcons face East Fremantle on Saturday, while the Eagles will host the Western Bulldogs at Patersons Stadium on Sunday.
