Shannon Hurn, the man with arguably the game’s most precise kicking skills, is poised to miss at least a month of football.
The star half-back was subbed out of the game against Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday with a medial strain to his right knee, today had scans and could be out of action for between four and six weeks.
Hurn was injured in an incident in the first minute of the match, tried desperately to continue, but in the end the club made the decision to eliminate the risk of further damage.
While the news for the unflappable defender was flattening, fellow half-back Beau Waters is on the upward swing. Waters, who had a complication from shoulder surgery in the pre-season, is only two or three weeks away from resumption.
And midfielder Mark Hutchings is also poised to play his first game of the season after missing the opening two rounds with a back problem.
Tough utility player Simon Tunbridge, who suffered a broken nose against Peel in the first round of WAFL action, should also resume when East Perth plays South Fremantle on Friday night.
