Indefatigable wingman Bradd Dalziell continues to press for an AFL recall with another strong performance for East Fremantle against South Fremantle last Saturday.

Dalziell, who has not played senior football since damaging his knee against Greater Western Sydney in round three, has played solidly for the last five or six weeks, proving that if an opportunity is forth-coming he is ready to accept it.

Against arch rivals South Fremantle, Dalziell had 27 possessions and was one of the best afield despite his team to falling to defeat on the back of an inspired late charge which saw the Bulldogs claim the points.

Teammate Koby Stevens had 18 possessions and five tackles in a positive return from a shoulder injury, while Brad Dick kicked a couple of goals from limited opportunities.

The Claremont contingent of Lewis Stevenson, Jeremy McGovern and Gerrick Weedon continue have a strong influence over the Tigers’ performances. It would come as a surprise if Stevenson is not among Claremont’s top three or four when they count their fairest and best votes at season’s end because he has been ultra-consistent.

Against Peel he started on a wing and then played the final term in his customary defensive role on the way to 21 possessions, five marks and three tackles.

McGovern, playing as a forward-ruckman, continues to develop and had 12 touches and six marks while Weedon was strong defensively.

The Tigers carried far too much arsenal for Peel, with Scott Lycett playing largely forward and finding opportunities scarce.

When Perth upset East Perth, young forward Simon Tunbridge was instrumental with 11 possessions, six marks and five tackles, his game rounded out by kicking two goals.

Half-back Ashley Smith is still working towards his best form, but showed some encouraging signs while Fraser McInness continues to loom as an exciting key forward prospect.

West Perth half-forward Andrew Strijk, an emergency the last couple of weeks, kept his name in the frame with 18 possessions and six tackles.

Callum Papertalk and Anton Hamp both played in the reserves at the weekend and were serviceable.
