The win on the field on Saturday, August 15 against North Melbourne was matched by an equally rewarding win around the ground, with funds raised from the game reaching $13,475.70 for the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation.

PMH Foundation hand clappers were on sale as well as a tin shake at all the major gates. The coin toss was also auctioned off where one generous supporter got the opportunity to toss the coin before the centre bounce at Subiaco Oval with a donation of $2,100.

Eleven-year-old Kaiden Blaszko, who was a patient at PMH earlier this year, was the mascot for the day which saw him run out through the banner with the players.

Kaiden suffered a stroke in April and his parents were told to expect the worst, but four months on, nobody would have guessed he would be able to be run alongside his sporting heroes.

The PMH Foundation is Western Australia’s only specialist children’s hospital and since the partnership with the West Coast Eagles was established in 2005, the club has helped raise over $160,000 for sick and injured children.

In recent years, the funds have helped purchase vital medical equipment including a patient cooling machine for the paediatric intensive care unit, an overhead warmer for the neonatal ward, a cardiac monitor for the infants ward and theming of the sensory room.
