A game of Monopoly threatened to bring down their household, but roommates Jackson Nelson and Tom Cole have managed to put their board game rivalry aside to get some solid training in during the AFL shutdown.
Nelson told Radio ECU that he and Cole had already ticked off several running sessions and a number of backyard workouts as part of their remote training programs.
West Coast’s players have not been able to train at the club since the AFL season was postponed following the Eagles' round one clash with Melbourne on March 22.
“We’re lucky at my joint; we’ve got a few weights and an exercise bike,” Nelson said.
“We’re only allowed to train in twos at the moment. I’m lucky that I live with one of the other boys, Tommy Cole, so we just go for a run about three times a week, which are usually pretty solid sessions.”
A frank Nelson admitted life in isolation had its challenges.
But he said board games and FIFA battles with teammates were filling the void.
“There are no real days; there are no days of the week. It’s just kind of rolling through at the moment,” Nelson said.
“We bought some board games, so we’ve played Monopoly. That nearly caused a fair argument in the household as you could imagine.
“We’ve played a little bit of trivial pursuit and there are a few boys on the Playstation, so I’ve been playing a bit of FIFA with the boys.”
