The West Coast Eagles faithful are standing united and growing in number and strength despite the uncertainty around the 2020 season caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The club’s membership has soared to a record of more than 93,000 – surpassing the 2019 record of 91,747 – further emphasising their unbridled passion for the club.
While the AFL season was suspended after the round one victory against Melbourne – with the earliest possible return being May 31 – the club’s loyal fan base continues to throw its weight behind the Eagles.
“We have always known that we have one of the most loyal and passionate member and supporter bases in the country,” Chief Executive Officer Trevor Nisbett said today.
“And the level of support they have shown during the toughest and most challenging year, not just in our club’s history but in more than 100 years of Australian football, is humbling.
“We don’t know when we will be back playing, but I’m sure our players and coaching staff – indeed our whole club – looks forward to being able to repay that faith.
“In the meantime I would again urge everyone to take heed of the directives from the Government and health authorities around playing their role in fighting this crisis. Please obey the social distancing guidelines and adhere to the stringent personal hygiene message.
“If we all do the right things we will get through this challenge together and we will be back playing and supporting the game we love at the earliest possible opportunity. Together we can stop the spread.”
