The West Coast Eagles will celebrate the AFL's Indigenous Round this week by paying tribute to the David Wirrpanda Foundation and its contribution to the indigenous community.

West Coast fans are encouraged to support this worthy cause by purchasing a Wirra scarf or other foundation merchandise or making a donation at the club's round nine clash with Collingwood at Subiaco Oval this Saturday, sponsored by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations.

The fixture will see the popular aboriginal Yabu Band perform live for the crowd at Subiaco Oval before bounce-down. Indigenous teams Yamitji Sharks and Nyoongar Country will meet in the curtain-raiser match at 3.10pm, competing for the Stephen Michael Cup.

In addition to the David Wirrpanda Foundation merchandise on sale, West Coast players will join volunteers and shake tins on game day to help raise money for the organisation.

Established in 2005 by Wirrpanda, the foundation works to improve the lives of indigenous youth through a wide variety of programs which aim to increase school attendance, improve indigenous health and improve life-choices after school by encouraging further study or employment options.
