The West Coast Eagles took to the streets yesterday to sell Dig Deep wristbands in the lead up to the Dig Deep Day clash against St Kilda at Subiaco Oval this Sunday.
Players and staff trekked through the streets of Subiaco and Perth City to sell the $3 wristbands to Eagles supporters where all the money raised will go to the Cancer Council WA in the fight against Western Australia’s biggest killer.
Football fans attending the game this weekend are urged to wear yellow to Subiaco Oval to show support for the Cancer Council WA as yellow is the colour of hope for a cancer-free future for all.
The game this weekend will also see the umpires wearing yellow, the centre circle painted yellow and the umpires waving yellow flags all in the name of cancer awareness.
The Eagles team broke up into two groups to walk the streets of Rokeby Road, Hay Street and Subiaco Centro as well as Murray Street, Hay Street and St George’s Terrace in the city.
West Coast Eagles fans were very excited to buy their blue and gold Dig Deep wristbands from some of their favourite players.
One in two men and one in three women will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 85. This is why the West Coast Eagles have united with the Cancer Council WA in the fight against this prevalent disease.
The Dig Deep Day game against St Kilda will mark the conclusion of the Dig Deep wristband selling campaign which commenced on June 2.
The West Coast Eagles hope to raise over $100,000 for the Cancer Council WA.
All the money raised will stay in Western Australia and help fund cancer research, counselling and education programs.
Players for the West Coast Eagles will also stand outside Gate 8 on game day this Sunday to shake tins again to raise more money for Cancer Council WA.
