West Coast Eagles Head of Development Gavin Bell’s thoughts on East Perth’s win over Swan Districts:
“I thought the way the guys hung tough was fantastic. Swan Districts’ work rate through the midfield and at the stoppages was very strong all day, so our boys were able to get the footy back, pin it in our front half for a lot longer and we were able to capitalise on the scoreboard.”
Jack Darling
“The young guy that played on Jack did a good job, but at the end of the day Jack is a class player. Kicking five goals and hitting some good speed with his running – he looked very dangerous out there.”
Xavier Ellis
“Xavier is a very smart football player. He was able to help set us up. Again, he was running better this week, so it was pleasing in that regard. We’re looking forward to ‘X’ pushing his way into the AFL side.”
Murray Newman
“Muzz brought great intensity at the weekend and his work in the contest was fantastic. We’re really pleased with how Muzz attacked the game, having been out for a couple of weeks with a finger injury. We’re pleased for Muzz and looking to get some continuity into his footy.”
Kane Lucas
“Kane has been very consistent over the last three to four games. He’s winning some ball on the outside now which is great. He’s working hard during the week on his kicking and his skills which is starting to show. He got some good reward for effort at the weekend.”
Scott Lycett
“Scotty has played more forward over the last few weeks at East Perth level and he’s kicked six goals in that period of time. He took eight marks over the weekend so we’re pleased with his Scotty’s output. He’s playing his role for the side which is important for us at this stage.”
