Nic Naitanui may take nearly all the limelight but that suits fellow ruckman Callum Sinclair just fine.
Sinclair has worked tirelessly for an opportunity to play regular AFL football and this season he has blossomed since coming into the team in round five.
Against the Magpies Sinclair was again influential reeling in 10 marks, five of them contested, had 15 possessions and 11 hit outs.
Sinclair says he was pleased to get the win but said it was a good battle with Collingwood’s quality ruck division.
“Not too bad, probably a little bit shaky early,” Sinclair told Eagle Eye TV.
“I thought me and Nic contributed okay, a little bit patchy at times.
“Witts and Grundy are two of the terrific ruckmen in the AFL so we had our work cut out for us.”
Former Collingwood Assistant Coach Scott Watters was far more glowing of Sinclair’s game.
“I thought this was a real breakout game,” Watters said on Footy WA.
“We’ve talked about so many players that are having breakout seasons at West Coast.
“Some of his marking (on Saturday) he looked like a player who’s suddenly realised ‘You know what, I’m good enough to play at this level’.
“He took a couple of very strong marks; you want a big fella like that presenting.
“He provides a very good balance now with Nic Naitanui.”
