Although he is yet to play senior footy, Corey Adamson is miles ahead in many aspects of his career as a West Coast Eagle.
The club prides itself upon the involvement of the playing list in a variety of community programs, a field where Adamson is already displaying talent and commitment.
A former baseballer, Adamson signed his first professional contract aged 16, an early and elusive addition for the San Diego Padres.
After choosing baseball over footy, the under 15's All Australian Schoolboy departed for the United States, to grind his way through six seasons of minor league baseball, playing upwards of 120 games each northern summer.
The speedy outfielder squeezed a second professional season each year at home from 2010 to 2014, winning three Championships with the Perth Heat in the newly formed Australian Baseball League.
During his 11 professional seasons, the Guilford Grammar product also amassed hundreds of hours of community work, which have finely tuned his charismatic approach to junior fans.
An engaging communicator, Adamson interacts personally with fans and members and moves from mentoring in goal-setting to coaching goal-kicking.
Hedland Senior High School representative Shane Beros was impressed by Adamson and his work with students.
“It’s always great to have the players visit, but Corey was exceptional,” Shane said.
“He was brilliant with the kids, sharing his story and coaching them through the footy drills.
“Having coached Corey in his time at Guilford, I was thrilled to get him up here and I’m really looking forward to seeing him crack into the AFL.”
Adamson's diligent and professional approach has already paid countless dividends off the field and is telling of his future on-field prospects.
Currently playing at East Perth's reserves, expect big things from the agile inside midfielder as he re-learns his craft with a dedication beyond his years.
