Rick's Blog: Round Two, 2014
Another week, another edition of the world's number one footy blog
How good is it to start the season with a big win? There really is no other way is there?
Our boys came out firing, a goal in the first minute to Jack Darling, after a beautiful tap from Nic Naitanui and a lace-out pass from Scooter Selwood. Beautiful to watch.
Our pressure was great and our kicking was accurate, I couldn’t have asked for anything more from my boys.
Now, onto the Dees.
The Eagles have dominated the Demons in recent seasons, winning the past five contests so hopefully we can keep it going. We’re a bit like the land of the giants down forward these days, with Nic Nat, Coxy, Sincas, JK and Jack Darling all up forward and kicking plenty of goals, a scary prospect for any defence!
What’s great to see is also their attack on the man when we don’t have the footy, the pressure was back on Sunday and here’s hoping they can continue it throughout the year.
We do have to break somewhat of a hoodoo though, we’ve only won two of 14 games at the MCG since 2008, which isn’t great obviously, BUT both of those wins were against Melbourne, so hopefully we can make it three in a row!
They’ve added plenty of fire power in their midfield over the off-season, which means it’ll be a great challenge for our running brigade to get first use and give it to our forwards to finish off their hard work.
I’m really looking forward to the game, hopefully you are too, and hopefully we’ll be toasting to another Eagles win on Sunday!
Love Rick.
