The Wirrpanda Foundation recently made its seventh annual visit to the Pilbara town of Onslow to deliver the Wirra Club program at Onslow Primary School.
This year, Wirrpanda Foundation staff including David Wirrpanda, Troy Cook and Josie Janz-Dawson, were joined by West Coast Eagles Community Engagement Coordinator, James Grabski and ever-popular club mascot, Rick ‘the Rock’ Eagle.

The program was delivered over three days and was also supported by Nicole Rendell from Netball WA, Samantha Wortelhock from BreakAway Art, Asad Hosseini from Athletics WA and Rohan Milne of Rohan Jewellery Leederville.
Students at Onslow Primary School spent the school days rotating through a range of activities led by the mentors and staff, which focused on promoting healthy and active lifestyles, whilst also providing students with opportunities to learn and develop their artistic and creative skills.
The importance of education and attending school regularly was highlighted throughout the visit, and it was great to see school attendance at a high level throughout the program.
A free community BBQ was held at the town’s Community Gardens, where Rick ‘the Rock’ Eagle also made a surprise special guest appearance.
Also joining and assisting the team was Anne-Eline Bourgoin from ERS, Tammy Cesana from Work Focus and Rebecca Norbury from COVS who attended as special guests to experience the program on behalf of their respective organisations.
The West Coast Eagles were thrilled to support this fantastic Wirrpanda Foundation program funded by BHP Billiton.
