On the fourth anniversary of the event, AFL powerhouse club Collingwood came on board for the great cause, putting together a star-studded list of past greats for the very first time to take on legends from West Coast.

The Collingwood MAGPIES (Mature Aged & Great PIES) boasted an all-star list, including Damian Monkhurst, Shane Woewodin, Tony Francis, TV star George Houvardas from 'Packed To The Rafters', comedian Peter Rowsthorn, and were led by team captain Scott Burns and coach Anthony Rocca.
The West Coast OWLS (Older, Wiser, Larger, Slower) also showcased an impressive list, with past Eagle greats such as John Worsfold, Scott Cummings, Dean Kemp, Brett Heady, Michael Braun, Drew Banfield, as well as the Matera trifecta of Peter, Phil and Wally. The OWLS were captained by West Coast’s inaugural skipper, Ross Glendinining, and coached by the club’s first coach, Ron Alexander.
The OWLS also had ten-year-old Zac Mainwaring on their side and the youngster made his return to the field in exceptional style, booting four goals for the game.
Both teams made sure they put on an entertaining show, and while the old boys took a well-deserved break at half-time, the crowd enjoyed the Grand Mascot Race, which saw more than 40 mascots dash across the oval, including Rick the Rock.
When the final siren sounded, the West Coast OWLS were victorious by 10 points, with Phil Matera awarded the Bill Sutherland Medal as best OWL on ground, and Damian Monkhurst winning the Eddie McGuire Medal as best Pie.
The real winners, however, were WA’s sick and injured kids, with all money raised from the ticket sales and the mascot race going straight to Telethon.
The West Coast Eagles, Telethon and Channel Seven would like to thank the Collingwood Football Club for helping to make the day such a huge success, and Perth’s footy fans for supporting such a great cause.
