West Coast Eagles forward Liam Ryan will be a test for this weekend’s round one clash with Gold Coast at Optus Stadium.

Ryan has been on a modified workload following the Eagles’ pre-season hit out earlier this month after presenting with some hamstring awareness.

“Liam had some hamstring awareness out of the pre-season game against North Melbourne,” High Performance Manager Mat Inness told westcoasteagles.com.au.

“In good news, he got through the game and was highly functional, and he has recovered well.

“He needs to get through training on Thursday to assess his availability, so he will be a test for this weekend.”

Defender Rhett Bazzo continues to make good strides with his rehabilitation program, with some WAFL game minutes on the horizon.

Bazzo had surgery at the end of last year to repair a fractured bone in his right foot.

“Rhett has had a good week on the training track this week,” Inness said.

“He has full trained and completed extra volume to continue his reconditioning phase.

“He won’t play this week, but all going well we expect him to play some minutes in next week’s WAFL practice match.”

Experienced midfielder Elliot Yeo is progressing well through his rehabilitation program.

Yeo injured the medial ligament in his right knee and required syndesmosis surgery on his right ankle after being tackled during match simulation in January.

"Elliot is undertaking some stair work and his on field training load is progressing through the early stages of his running reload," Inness said.
