To kick off our first home game for the season, our Member of the Round competition was awarded exclusively to two winners! We couldn’t think of a better way to honour Joseph and Janice Cummins’ unwavering support than, awarding them our “Members of the Round” for our victory clash against St Kilda.
This competition is traditionally awarded to one member, but when Joseph and Janice’s daughter Theresa got in contact with the club to let us know her parents would be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on the same day of the game, we knew the prize would make it a day to remember if they shared it together.
Theresa mentioned that her parents have been "members for 22 years and they love their football and the West Coast Eagles".
Joseph, Janice and their daughters have been members since 1991, when they won four season passes on the radio.
“My sisters and I are so very proud of our parents and are extremely thankful for all the love and support they have always given us," Theresa said.
“It was Christmas wish and each morning for a week they drew out a winner, and our wish was a season pass to the West Coast Eagles.
"We won four season passes! We became regulars and we have had season passes ever since.”
Most members would agree that some of their favourite moments of the club would be witnessing any of our three premiership wins. When we asked Joseph, his answer was a little different and very much enjoyed.
“Watching Chris Lewis’ career from start to finish. Watching him play for all those years and then being there for his farewell, which I reckon is the best farewell I’ve seen in football," Joseph said.
"As far as crowd appreciation goes, Lewis is still my all-time favourite player by far”.
We hope that Joseph and Janice enjoyed their match day experience as our first Members of the Round for 2017 and we would like to congratulate them on their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
